Fine Arts

The study of Fine Arts offers a rich range of historical, critical and theoretical studies based around a core and studio-based program.

Studio-based units comprise traditional and new technology areas.

A wide range of units on the history and theory of visual culture is available for students to choose from.

The School is known for the high quality of its history and theory units, which can be taken as a Fine Arts major within a BA degree.

In the Bachelor of Fine Arts students will develop creative skills by undertaking practical units in conjunction with studying the history and theory of fine arts.

It is highly recommended that students have a strong interest in contemporary art, art practice and art history.

Career opportunities

Tenacity, flexibility, lateral and creative thinking are the important characteristics students gain after completing a Degree in Fine Arts at UWA. The BFA/BA Fine Arts Degree teaches you to address contemporary issues in an independent and creative manner in order to participate in the most challenging of careers. In today's global economy the arts serve as the bridge between cultures; be it at the business or tourist ends.
